Dr Joseph Cheriyan

Dr Cheriyan is a Consultant Clinical Pharmacologist and Physician at Cambridge University Hospitals and Associate Lecturer at the University of Cambridge. He is an active clinical researcher in cardiovascular medicine particularly vascular function and inflammation. He has a wealth of experience in early phase experimental medicine studies as well as the repurposing of currently licensed drugs for novel indications where they are currently contraindicated.

Dr Cheriyan directs the Cardiovascular Trials Office of the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit which leads the design, implementation and delivery of clinical trials on campus. In keeping with the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre theme, this includes experimental studies in the cardio-respiratory arena as well as close work with other industrial partners on pre-competitive and early phase conceptual studies to provide evidence of target engagement.
